What do I do with this app?
A briefing for the globe drill.
Risky Ticker is a drill, not a research terminal and not a brokerage. It puts you in a hedge-fund operations seat: given a geopolitical backdrop, which US-listed names in each GICS sector would a desk even put on the page — and what workflow would they run next on BizTT.
1. Pick a situation
The dropdown is a pool of made-up regimes (Hormuz Attrition, TTF Winter Tightness, and so on). Each one is an authored backdrop with a short story (the Situation), explicit assumptions (what is not happening), and Heat and Cold maps for all 11 GICS sectors.
These are teaching scenarios. They are not a news wire, not a forecast, and not BizTT fundamental research. A LIVE row, if it appears after a publisher radar update, is the same shape of book with a different source (X). Until then you are in the simulated deck.
2. Pick a temperature
- Heat — where political-event risk for that sector is concentrated in this regime. Hot is not “buy” or “sell.” It means the story is loud there.
- Cold — the quiet political book for that sector. Cold is not safe or cheap. It means low political-event beta — useful if you are hunting outliers, not hiding.
- Both — cold tiles above the globe, heat tiles below. Intensity (0–100) is how loud that pole is, not quality and not expected return.
3. Read a tile
Tap a sector tile. You get Temperature (why this sector sits on that pole), Situation (the regime you are drilling), Assumptions (the rules of the drill), and US listings — a short roster from the US stock pool only (NYSE / Nasdaq names plus the sector ETF).
How those names are chosen in the free / simulated book:

The tickers are real. The cast and the “why” are part of the drill — assigned so you can practice the map, not because a model just printed a live screen. Nothing here is a recommendation.
4. Do the actual job (the feeder)
Scroll to the Desk card. That is the point of the app: if a fund ran this idea, who touches it and with which tool? Those buttons open BizTT in a new tab (Trade Day / SIM, Discover, AMA, course units, Compass). PorTru and LuciClara are described first; they need Google sign-in on BizTT. Risky Ticker itself does not.
5. What you should walk away with
Not a portfolio. A habit:
- Name the regime and its assumptions.
- Split the sector into hot concentration vs quiet book.
- Put only US listings on the page, tagged by how they attach to the story.
- Hand the idea to the right desk role and tool on BizTT.
